Job Posting for Energy Outreach & Engagement Specialist (LTE) at City of Green Bay
The Energy Outreach & Engagement Specialist provides technical assistance and facilitates awareness to citizens and businesses about clean energy and energy efficiency actions and technologies. The position will help develop initial educational materials for the City and increase awareness around state and federal energy efficiency and electrification incentives for clean energy technologies through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) and Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). This position supports the City’s climate goal of 100% clean energy and carbon neutrality by 2050 and implementing key strategies from the Clean Energy Green Bay Plan.
Pay Rate: $24.00 per hour
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Enjoy a summer schedule from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
This is a limited term, grant-funded position anticipated to begin May 1, 2024 and last for approximately 2-years.
No residency requirement.

Contributes to the development of an outreach plan with milestones for engagement with Green Bay’s residents, non-profit organizations, and businesses.
Based on the outreach plan, seeks out, and schedules engagement opportunities in conjunction with community organizations, neighborhood associations, business organizations, and the City’s Sustainability Commission to implement the plan.
Creates and maintains a Green Bay energy and sustainability website and social media content to build public awareness.
Develops marketing materials and flyers.
Educates the public through social media, newsletters, and websites on a variety of decarbonization topics.
Educates residents and businesses on how to access financial incentives to adopt clean energy technologies and save money.
Fosters awareness at the neighborhood level by educating residents how to access the available rebates and tax credits of the Inflation Reduction Act and the Focus on Energy program.
Represents the City at various events and activities, and presents information at public meetings to residents, neighborhood associations, business owners, and non-profit organizations.
Reports on outreach plan progress towards key milestones and creates reports for internal audiences.
Answers questions from city residents, businesses, and contractors regarding federal and state energy programs funding, including but not limited to Focus on Energy, IRA tax credits, and PACE financing.
Collaborates with existing organizations engaged in relevant initiatives.
Works on other municipal sustainability projects as time allows.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Associate degree or Bachelor’s degree in Natural or Environmental Science or Studies, Environmental Management, Environmental Engineering, Urban Planning, Sustainability or Resiliency Studies, Environmental Policy, or related field.
Two or more years of experience in energy-related outreach roles or sustainability roles, environmental sustainability, climate action planning, community organizing, and project management or related experience.
Valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
A combination of equivalent experience and/or education may be considered.
Knowledge of the residential and business Inflation Reduction Act tax credits. Knowledge of home and business energy efficiency, renewable energy, electric vehicles (EV), and EV charging.
Skill in preparing, promoting, and presenting education and information content. Skill in providing excellent customer service. Considerable skill and ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Ability to learn and adapt to changing federal and state guidelines as it relates to clean energy and decarbonization initiatives. Ability to work independently without specific instructions. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and members of the public. Ability to work the required core hours of the position along with occasional meetings that occur outside the normal business day. Ability to proficiently utilize a computer and the required software.

Ability to focus for long period of time on projects.
Ability to reach, stoop and lift.
