Public Works is seeking a Financial Supervisor. This dynamic position is responsible for managing the various financial aspects of the Department of Public Works.
Hiring Range: $72,010 - $74,131 Annually
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
No residency requirement.

- Plans, assigns, supervises, and evaluates the work of the Time Clerk. Interviews and recommends applicants for positions. Provides training and orientation for employees. Maintains personnel files.
- Completes financial reports and records on the full operation of the Department of Public Works. Gathers, interprets, and prepares various data for reports, grants, studies, etc. Calculates and invoices various charges for services, reimbursements, and receipts and reconciles accordingly. Prepares cost estimates for special projects and events. Maintains and develops records of all revenues and deposits generated by the Department. Prepares necessary reports. Prepares month end journal entries. Audits and reconciles corporate credit card transactions and statements.
- Completes and files various agreements and applies for grants, state aides, licenses, reimbursement claims, and tax rebates.
- Maintains inventory and costs of all equipment and supplies in the Department. Monitors and records supplies and materials purchased.
- Assists in budget preparation, monitors revenues and expenditures, and reviews budget status.
- Develops accounting systems, specialized financial programs, and techniques and methods. Develops, revises, and implements policies and procedures for the Division and enforces compliance.
- Performs the functions of the supervisor in the administrative section in the absence of the Administrative Supervisor.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Associate Degree in Supervisory Management, Accounting, Finance or related field.
- Four to six years of office management experience, with two years of supervisory experience.
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
- Comprehensive knowledge and skill in the principles of office management including accounting and bookkeeping, computers, budget management and record keeping.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective supervision and evaluation skills.
- Considerable knowledge, skills and abilities in planning and supervising work of clerical staff. Strong interpersonal communication and analytical skills.
- Ability to handle multiple operating divisions, establish accurate reporting formats, and be highly organized. Ability to solve problems, apply sound decision-making principles, delegate and work under pressure. Ability to proficiently utilize a computer and the required software. Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing. Ability to work effectively with others and maintains effective working relationships with staff, other professionals, departments, service and civic organizations, elected officials, and general public. Ability to work the required hours of the position.
