What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lifeguard In-Training (LIT) position at City of Greenville?
Are you interested in becoming a Lifeguard for the Greenville Recreation and Parks Department but don’t have the required certifications? If so, this position is for you!
Individuals who are selected for this position must pass the American Red Cross Swim test. You will then be paid to complete one of our Lifeguard Certification Classes. Upon successful completion of the Lifeguard Certification class and orientation, you will begin receiving shifts at the Greenville Aquatics and Fitness Center (operates year-round) and the Greenville Outdoor Aquatic Center (operates seasonally from Memorial Day through Labor Day).
Minimum Age: 16 years old, at the time of application

As a Lifeguard, you will:- Maintain the safety of patrons in and around the pool;
- Respond to emergencies as needed;
- Assist with groups using the facilities, basic cleaning, and water testing;
- Enforce facility rules;
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Individuals who are selected for this position must pass the American Red Cross Swim test.
- Swim continuously for 300 yards, using freestyle and breaststroke.
- Tread water for 2 minutes no hands.
- Must retrieve a 10lb brick in a 1:40
