The purpose of the class is to support the presentation of special events and programs offered by the Parks, Recreation & Leisure Services Department. The class works according to set procedures, performing administrative tasks related to festival and event planning.

Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or successful completion of a GED.
- One (1) year of full-time equivalent experience in event planning or supporting special events and festivals.
- Specialized courses/training, equivalent to the completion of one year of college, in recreation, leisure services, marketing or a related field is preferred.
- A combination of education and experience may be considered for this position.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driving record based on the City of Hampton’s criteria.
- Must successfully pass a background check related to this position prior to any offer of employment or promotion.
- This position is safety sensitive and is subject to testing for alcohol and controlled substances in accordance with the City’s current substance abuse policy.
- Requires periodic shift work which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Requires some local travel.
- The incumbent may be considered “essential personnel” during City emergency situations or at the direction of the City Manager which may include long hours and unusual schedules.
