The Pool Operator is a full-time position with a preferred hiring range of $18.64 - $21.44 per hour (equivalent to $38,771 - $44,595 annually). The ideal candidate for this leadership position will perform a variety of duties related to the operations and maintenance of an aquatic facility for the community while maintaining a culture of professionalism and respect at all levels.
As a Pool Operator, you'll:
- Supervise and train lifeguards and pool staff involved in the operation and maintenance of a municipal swimming facility;
- Perform lifeguarding and instructional duties as required;
- Plan and direct maintenance activities of staff, including assigning maintenance tasks;
- Prepare a variety of documents, including purchase requisitions for supplies, weekly participation reports, staff schedules, and approval of leave request forms;
- Conduct staff meetings to disseminate information on future program schedules;
- Assist in evaluating the work performance of employees, including conducting disciplinary action on employees as needed;
- Ensure instruction programs are properly conducted;
- Perform a variety of customer service tasks, such as meeting and greeting patrons, resolving conflicts, and explaining pool rules, regulations, and policies;
- Prepare for and coordinate special events held at the pool with other divisions, departments, or agencies;
- Perform related tasks as required.
- Associate’s/Technical degree with coursework in Aquatics Management, Parks and Recreation Administration, or related field and moderate (1-3 years) experience supervising a community swimming facility including some supervisory experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be used to meet this requirement.
- Valid driver's license.
- Availability to work a highly flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Possession of the following certifications within the timelines specified:
- American Red Cross Lifeguarding, CPR-PR, and First Aid at time of hire.
- Certified Pool Operator License or Aquatic Facility Operator License within six (6) months of hire date.
- Water Safety Instructor and Lifeguard Training Instructor Certification required within one (1) year of hire date.
