Recreation Services Coordinator

Position Overview

• This recruitment is limited to the first 25 qualified applications and will close to the public without notice while still accepting applications from internal employees.

Minimum Qualifications

• Associates degree from an accredited college or university in Parks and Recreation, Sports Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, Social Services, or a closely related field.
• Three (3) years of full-time work experience in recreation, special events, or sports programming.
• Note: An equivalent combination of related training and work experience may be considered.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Nevada or “border state” driver’s license, as defined by NRS 483.
• May be required to obtain and maintain various licenses and certifications within three (3) to six (6) months of hire or promotion based on assigned program area such as, but not limited to: American Red Cross First Aid and CPR, Southern Nevada Health District Food Handler Safety Training Card, Lifeguard/Lifeguard Instructor, national Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO).
• All required licenses and certificates, as mandated by State and Federal Laws or as required herein, must be obtained, and maintained at the incumbents’ expense.
• Desirable: Bachelor’s degree in one of the areas of study listed above.

Selection Process

The selection process will entail Subject Matter Experts reading and scoring your responses to supplemental questions 14-20 and your answers will be the sole determining factor for placement on the eligibility list for this classification.

Subject Matter Experts will NOT have access to any information besides the answers to questions 14-20. This means that they will not have access to applications, resumes or any other identifying information when scoring. Candidates who have been placed on the eligibility list will be invited to participate in a selection interview.

The selection process will begin with an employment application package screening, with the best-qualified candidates being invited to participate further in the assessment process. This process may include any combination of written, performance, and oral assessments to evaluate job-related education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The City will provide reasonable accommodation to qualified individuals with disabilities.
