"TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALL GAME...." Do you enjoy working outside and have a passion for sports? The City is looking for team members to join their Baseball Grounds Crew. These positions would start in April and work throughout the summer months. Apply now to secure your summer job! Under direct supervision of the Recreation Supervisor and Recreation Program Manager, the Ballfield Grounds Crew is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of all baseball and softball diamonds located at Roger A. Reynolds Municipal Park. Individuals will oversee the diamonds for that day's play as well as monitoring trouble areas and fixing them to prevent injury to players.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Set bases and mounds to the correct distance for each age group.Drag dirt fields.Chalk and paint foul lines.Repair high-traffic areas near bases.Judge the playability of surfaces after rain.Maintain cleanliness of the assigned facility, including the buildings, public spaces, walkways, trash, and restrooms.Interact with the public and respond to customer inquiries.Research and resolve issues as necessary.Track inventory of equipment.Assist with departmental special events.Perform other related duties as assigned by the Recreation Coordinators, Recreation Supervisors, Recreation Program Managers, Deputy Director of Recreation and Parks, or the Director of Recreation and Parks or their designee.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesAbility to supervise, direct, instruct, and solicit cooperation from others in the performance of their daily work assignments and duties.Ability to compile and prepare reports and maintain accurate records.Ability to exercise independent judgement, discretion and to provide leadership.Ability to answer inquiries, resolve complaints, and communicate with the public in an effective, tactful, courteous, and professional manner.Ability to implement Emergency Action Plans and emergency response plans.Compliance with training directives established by supervisory and management personnel.Adherence to all applicable federal, state and local safety laws, rules and regulations and City policies/procedures.
