POSITION
To create, coordinate, and indirectly supervise the operation of youth or adult sport programs and staff for the City of Hollister Recreation Department.

Supervision Received
Receives direction from Recreation Coordinator.
  • Assist in interviewing and hiring youth or adult sport officials
  • Assist in developing a coaches/official packet and make available for coaches/officials at least four weeks prior to the first day of the program
  • To contact sponsors/coaches providing information of special events and activities concerning specific youth sport program
  • To assist in the training and certification of youth coaches
  • Secure volunteer coaches and sponsors for specific youth sport program
  • To compile and distribute accurate game schedules for specific youth or adult sport program 
  • To compile and distribute accurate rosters for specific youth or adult sport program
  • To create a weekly work schedule for the youth or adult sport officials
  • To assist in providing the Recreation office with all necessary paperwork or information on specific sport program
  • To acquire the proper information requested by the Recreation Coordinator on a weekly basis in order to operate the specific sport program
  • Assist in organizing staff training and evaluation
  • To submit accurate purchase orders for uniforms, medals, picture photos, equipment and supplies for specific youth or adult sport program
  • To plan and assist in special events and activities concerning specific youth or adult sport program
  • To close the programs by securing all supplies and equipment at Park Hill
  • To provide a inventory report of supplies and equipment of specific youth or adult sport program
  • To close the program by submitting a final evaluation report from the response of coaches and participants
  • Make recommendations/suggestions concerning program and staff for the following season
Experience and Education
  • Experience with youth and adult sport development program requested
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • High School Diploma required
Licenses or Certificate
  • Current CPR/First Aid Certificate
Knowledge of:
  • Goals and objectives of youth and adult sport programs
  • Principles of supervision and evaluation
  • Public relations principles and techniques
  • Organizational and bookkeeping skills
  • Ability toInterview and select qualified staff
  • Supervise, evaluate, and discipline staff
  • Train staff in program policies and procedure
  • Keep accurate financial records

The selection process may require any combination of the following: application appraisal, written examination, performance test, and personal interview conducted by an outside oral panel and/or the Department.
