Shift : M-F 8am-4 : 30pm. Semi remote : 3 days on-site, 2 days remote. Will have to travel to OCC’s at least monthly.
The Quality Assurance (QA) Coordinator is responsible for performing all quality assurance activities to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, accrediting and other regulatory agency requirements.
These agencies include CAP, COLA and Joint Commission. Manages the competency assessment and continuing education activities of the laboratory personnel to enhance their knowledge of laboratory services.
Oversees the laboratory safety program in partnership with the Laboratory Safety Officer and assists laboratory leadership with process improvement activities, troubleshooting and decision-making.
Oversees and manages the laboratories quality management plan.
JOB RESPONSIBLITIES
- Investigates and enters incidents / errors / accidents in the appropriate tracking system and performs follow-up with applicable departments to ensure appropriate corrective actions are taken.
- Compiles data from tracking systems, presents at the appropriate laboratory leadership quality meeting, monitors for any trends and participates in education and process improvement initiatives.
- Manages competency assessment and continuing education activities of all laboratory personnel ensuring all competency requirements (initial, semi-annual and annual) are met.
- Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, accrediting and other regulatory agencies.
- Ensures compliance with all hospital and Outpatient Care Center accrediting agencies i.e. CAP, COLA and Joint Commission.
- Promotes inter and intra-departmental collaboration by supporting standards of excellence.
- Performs other duties, as assigned, by Laboratory Administrative Director.
Experience : Minimum of 5 years working in a hospital laboratory setting and at least 3 years’ experience in laboratory quality.
Must have thorough knowledge of CAP and COLA compliance.
Education : For MT- Baccalaureate Degree in one of the following :
Medical Technology (MT)
Medical Laboratory Science (MLS)
Clinical Laboratory Science (CLS)
Healthcare Administration
Or Bachelor’s degree plus Certificate in Healthcare Administration, Medical Laboratory Science (MLS),
Clinical Laboratory Science (CLS),
Medical Technology (MT), as recognized by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) is required.
An HEW certificate may be substituted for the specified degree.
