Overview
The City of Hurstbourne, KY is a suburban city located in Jefferson County with a population of approximately 4,800 residents. Hurstbourne is known as a high-end residential community surrounded by commercial, office, hotel, and retail properties. The city is governed by an elected body of 4 Commissioners and a Mayor, collectively known as the Board of Commissioners. The City Commission appoints a City Administrator that manages the day-to-day operations of the city. The City of Hurstbourne has an immediate opening for a Bookkeeper in our office. The Bookkeeper reports to the City Administrator. The position will be responsible for processing all accounting functions for the city.
Job Skills/Requirements
Responsible for all financial transactions, accounting, documents, and reports for the City of Hurstbourne. Compiles financial information and prepares accounting entries to produce monthly financial statements and supporting schedules. Prepares balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports to summarize and interpret current and projected financial position. Performs cash management duties, including transfers/bank check requests, deposit review, bank reconciliations, cash projections, monitoring cash and accounts receivable balances.
Reviews accounts payable, including invoices, contracts, and vouchers for accuracy. Processes timely payments of all payables and other obligations. Coordinates fiscal year-end audit activities with Audit Firm, City Treasurer and City Administrator. Assists in annual budget process with management staff. Other duties may be included as assigned.
Requirements:
B.A. or B.S. in Accounting or a related field preferred
5 years of experience in Accounting
Exceptional computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
Proficiency with QuickBooks Online (Certification desired but not required)

Part-Time Work Schedule: 24 hours per week
