The City of Irvine seeks an experienced and skilled Para-Transit Driver to transport seniors and disabled persons to local destinations. The incumbent will provide door-to-door service, assist patrons in and out of the vehicle, perform thorough pre-operation inspections of assigned vehicles for repair and safety issues, and other related van driving duties for the City of Irvine. A valid Class B driver's license with passenger endorsement is required.

Your Impact
- Operate vehicle and safely transport seniors and individuals with disabilities to destinations.
- Inspect vehicles prior to operation and perform safety and preventive maintenance functions.
- Provide safe door-to-door transportation service and assist seniors and individuals with disabilities on and off wheelchair accessible vehicles. Minimal physical assistance to passengers is required.
- Prepare, complete, and submit daily reports, driver manifests and accident/incident reports, when appropriate, and email correspondence.
- Responsible for cleaning and washing vehicle’s interior and exterior; fuel vehicle daily after routes.
- Participate in ongoing training and workshops to stay up-to-date on para-transit regulations, safety measures, and passenger assistance techniques.
- Provide limited administrative support to the TRIPS office including, but not limited to, answering phone calls, responding to emails, and coordinating appointments.
- Ability to use routing software to analyze and interpret mapping data for efficient route planning.
- Provide operational and administrative support to office personnel as needed.
- Ability to successfully complete the following pre-employment examinations: Class B physical, DOT substance/alcohol exam, back x-ray, and driving examination.
- Please Note: If hired, random drug and/or alcohol testing is conducted as a part of employment.
- Work schedule is Monday-Friday, 7:00 am-5:30 p.m.

- High School or equivalent.
- Some experience dealing with the public, preferably with the elderly and/or persons with special needs or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Possess a valid California driver's license and able to show evidence of a good driving record.
- Successful completion of Class B driver's license examination (including DMV physical examination).
- First Aid/CPR training for infant, child and adult.
- Subject to Department of Transportation random drug and alcohol testing.
- Three (3) years experience working with the public, preferably with seniors and /or individuals with disabilities.
- Experience operating a 15-passenger van, equipped for wheelchairs.
- Ability to provide a current DMV printout demonstrating a safe driving record.
- Knowledge of appropriate and lawful driving standards, emergency procedures, vehicle maintenance and Irvine and Orange County roadways.
- Experience with TripSpark scheduling software.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. on occasion.
- Ability to push, pull, lean, stoop, and bend in the performance of various job duties and responsibilities.
- Ability to lift and carry the weight of a standard wheelchair.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, MS teams).
