What are the responsibilities and job description for the Finance Director position at City of Irving?
The ideal candidate for this position will have solid credentials and a background in municipal finance; is self-motivated; and possess excellent written and verbal communication and leadership skills. This position directs and manages the staff and activities of Budget, Treasury and financial projects, such as the Entertainment Venue, Convention Center Hotel, and Residential Public Improvement Districts. Duties include reviewing and overseeing the preparation of city-wide monthly and annual financial statements, accounts payable, payroll, and investing and debt activities; managing the internal audit process to ensure internal controls exist and are monitored; and preparing the departmental strategic and operating plan (identifying, documenting, monitoring and evaluating goals, objectives, priorities, and activities). The successful candidate will hold a Master’s degree or equivalent in public administration, business administration or a related field; or a Bachelor’s degree with a Certified Professional Accountant (CPA), Certified Government Finance Officer (CGFO) or similar professional certification(s). A minimum of 10 years of experience, including five years of supervisory experience required. A résumé must be submitted with application.
