EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
GENERAL DEFINITION AND CONDITIONS OF WORK: Performs skilled work in focused and concentrated areas of the Parks and Recreation Department. DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: Under general supervision an employee in this class performs skilled work involving various areas of parks and recreation. Such areas are defined as Train Operator; Splash Pad Operator; Building Attendants, AV and Technical Operators, Bus Driver, Athletic Specialist, or Concessions Supervisors. An employee in this class performs related work as required. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment of the position.Train / Carousel Operations specifically includes: Opening and closing of facilitiesDriving and operating train through Village ParkOperating the CarouselPerforming daily safety inspections of train, rails, and carousel.Daily maintenance and upkeep of train, carousel, and associated areas.Maintaining daily work records, including safety reports and attendance recordsWorking independently to provide superior customer service.Splash Pad Operations specifically include: Opening and closing of splash pad and restroom facilityAssisting with the maintenance and daily operations of the pumps and mechanical functions of facilityChecking water quality as needed per health department regulationsEnforcing rules and regulations specific to the splash padEnsuring safety of visitorsControlling admissions; selling concessions as neededMaintaining daily work records, including revenue reports and attendance recordsWorking independently to provide superior customer service to guests and patronsBuilding Attendant specifically include: Opening and closing of park and recreation facilities during rentals, meetings, and programsHandling all aspects of building rentals, including, but not limited to, room set-up and tear-down, audio-visual needs in some facilities, ensuring security of other areas of building, custodial duties as neededCommunicating with users to address needs and accommodating users within departmental guidelinesEnforcing policies and procedures during rental and meeting timesEnsuring smooth transitions between users and addressing specific needs to each userPerforming custodial duties as neededAV & Technical Operations specifically include: Technical aptitude and detailed understanding of how to use audiovisual equipment requiredActs as primary individual responsible for the set up, operation, and breakdown of basic to high end Audio, Video, Projection, and Lighting equipment for departmental programs and special eventsAssists with proper security, storage, transportation, and maintenance of equipment.Accounts for all inventories before and after each eventAthletic Operations specifically includes: Assisting Athletic Coordinator with team and field schedulingOn-site supervision at athletic games and practicesEnforcing policies and procedures during games and practices.Assisting with athletic equipment inventories, maintenance, and upkeepAssists with coaching as neededCommunicating with coaches, parents, and players to address needs within departmental guidelines.Must possess and maintain a NC Class C Driver License for the duration of employment with a 3-year safe driving history verified by a NC Division of Motor Vehicles Report.Concessions Operations specifically includes: Opening and closing of concession stand facilitiesAccountable for distributing start-up cash to splash pad and carousel as needed.Controlling admissions to train and carousel by selling tickets; selling concessionsWork concessions facilities at several parks and facilities and run registerMaintaining daily work records, including revenue reports Responsible for closing procedures and making nightly depositsAssists with maintaining product inventory at concession standsWorking independently to provide superior customer service to guests and patrons.Must possess and maintain a NC Class C Driver License for the duration of employment with a 3-year safe driving history verified by a NC Division of Motor Vehicles Report.Concessions Supervisor specifically includes: Managing concessions facilities at several parks and facilitiesManaging and maintaining product inventory, including ordering, rotating, pricing and marketingAssisting with hiring, scheduling, training, and managing staff for all concession locationsMaintaining daily work records, including revenue reports, healthy and safety reports, and product inventoryTracking revenues and expenditure related to concession salesAssisting with concession equipment maintenance and upkeepMust possess and maintain a NC Class C Driver License for the duration of employment with a 3-year safe driving history verified by a NC Division of Motor Vehicles Report.Bus Driver specifically includes: Drive vehicles over specified routes or to specified destinations according to time schedules, complying with traffic regulations to ensure that passengers have a smooth and safe ride.Park vehicles at loading areas so that passengers can board.Advise passengers to be seated and orderly while on vehicles.Inspect vehicles, and check gas, oil, and water levels prior to departure.Assist passengers, such as elderly or disabled individuals, on and off bus, ensure they are seated properly, help carry baggage, and answer questions about trip schedules or routes.Load and unload passengers via accessible ramp as neededHandle passenger emergencies or disruptions.Record information, such as maintain logbook.Listen to and sometimes address passenger complaintsEnsure the tour stays on scheduleAccount for all passengers before leaving a locationSometimes act as tour guides for passengersRegulate heating, lighting, and ventilating systems for passenger comfort.Report delays or accidents.Maintain cleanliness of bus or motor coach.Make minor repairs to vehicle and change tires.Working independently to provide superior customer service to bus passengers Must be at least 21 years of age.Must possess and maintain a NC Class B Commercial Driver License with Passenger (P) Endorsement for the duration of employment with a 3-year safe driving history verified by a NC Division of Motor Vehicles Report.This position has been classified as DOT regulated and is subject to random drug and/or alcohol testing. Shuttle Operator specifically includes: Drive shuttle over specified routes or to specified destinations according to time schedules, complying with traffic regulations to ensure that passengers have a smooth and safe ride.Park vehicles at loading areas so that passengers can board.Advise passengers to be seated and orderly while on shuttle.Perform daily pre-trip shuttle inspection.Assist passengers, such as elderly or disabled individuals, on and off shuttle, ensure they are seated properly and answer questions about schedules or routes.Load and unload passengers via accessible ramp as needed.Handle passenger emergencies or disruptions.Record information, such as maintenance logbook.Listen to and sometimes address passenger complaints.Ensure the shuttle route stays on schedule.Account for all passengers before leaving a location.Report delays or accidents.Maintain cleanliness of shuttle.Working independently to provide superior customer service to shuttle passengers.Responsible for attentive operation of assigned shuttle in accordance with established safety protocols.Must be 21 years of age.Must possess and maintain a NC Class C Driver License for the duration of employment with a 3 year safe driving history verified by a NC Division of Motor Vehicles Report. This position has been classified as safety sensitive and is subject to random drug and/or alcohol testing.
