What are the responsibilities and job description for the Call Firefighter position at City of Keene, NH?
The City of Keene is actively recruiting part-time Call Firefighters! Being a Call Firefighter can be a very rewarding experience, with opportunities for career advancement. Duties will include responding to calls for emergencies, extinguishing fires, protecting life and property, operating and maintaining fire equipment and quarters, and other tasks essential for the safety of the community. Serving as a part-time call firefighter can provide training sponsorship opportunities developing skill sets needed to be a career firefighter. Experience and certification are preferred; however, the fire department is willing to provide training for outstanding candidates. Current starting rates, as well as pay increases applied with completion of a one-year probationary period are below.
Certified Firefighter Level I: $14.20 increased to $16.39 per hour.
Certified Level II Firefighters: $15.81 increased to $19.67 per hour.
Non-certified candidates: $10.92 per hour, with increase to $14.20 per hour with attainment of Firefighter Level I once certification is obtained.
Call Firefighters are required to reside within a 30-minute drive of the City’s Central Fire Station, possess a high school diploma or equivalent, and a valid driver’s license. Must successfully pass NFPA 1582 wellness evaluation; must successfully complete within 12 months of hire of State of New Hampshire Firefighter One, and within 18 months Hazardous Awareness/Operations and Decontamination, and CPR.
