DEFINITION
To operate and maintain pumps, electric controls, motors, valves, and pipes in sewer lift stations; and to perform routine grounds and building maintenance for lift station facilities.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
To operate and maintain pumps, electric controls, motors, valves, and pipes in sewer lift stations; and to perform routine grounds and building maintenance for lift station facilities.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives general supervision from a Treatment Plant Supervisor.
Receives functional or technical supervision from Senior Lift Station Operator.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Install, clean, oil, and maintain lift station pumps; remove and replace pump seals.
- Remove defective pumps for repairs on electrical motors.
- Troubleshoot and perform minor repairs on electrical motors.
- Clean and remove debris from lift stations wet well.
- Install, repair, and maintain valves.
- Perform routine grounds and facilities maintenance on lift stations and premises.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
For indefinite periods of time - mobility within an office and field environment; exposure to chemical, dust/mites, fume, odor, explosive, electrical and mechanical hazards; exposure to extreme cold, heat, heights and depths; walking; twisting body; stooping; standing; squatting; sitting; seeing; running; pushing, pulling, lifting, dragging, and carrying up to 50 pounds; kneeling; reading; decision making; reaching above shoulder level; using both hands for simple and firm grasping; clarity of hearing; communicating clearly and effectively, in person and by two-way radio; fine finger manipulation for writing and typing on a personal computer; operation of all equipment pertaining to lift station operation and all types of power tools and hand tools; operation of a motor vehicle and dump truck through city traffic.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:

- Pump operations and mechanics.
- Electrical motor operations and maintenance.
- Simple building and grounds maintenance.
- Basic safety procedures.
Ability to:
- Perform duties during inclement weather.
- Install, maintain, and repair pumping equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical motors.
- Perform minor building and ground maintenance tasks.
- Work independently or with others.
- To attend training classes.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
One year of experience in the maintenance and repair of pumping equipment and electrical motors and a high school diploma or GED.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES
Possession of a valid Texas Class "B" CDL within 90 days.
Possession of, or the ability to obtain a Class II Wastewater Collection System License with (3) three years.
