BASIC FUNCTION:  The lifeguard is responsible for safety and supervision of patrons and activities at the City pool facilities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Ability to swim 500 yards without stopping.
  2. Ability to tread water for 1 minute without using hands.
  3. Ability to work well with customers of all ages and other members of staff.
  4. Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays.

EDUCATION:  No requirement

EXPERIENCE:  None required.  Must be at least 16 years of age.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:

  1. Red Cross Lifeguard Certification
  2. Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid Certification
  3. Red Cross AED Certification (or obtained within 1 month of appointment)
