What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bus Driver position at City of Lauderhill?
Under general supervision, the purpose of the position is to provide transportation services to senior citizens, youths and others in the City. Employees in this classification perform routine transport work. Position is responsible for transporting clients to medical centers, nursing homes, daycare centers, recreational trips, and other places as required. Performs related work as directed.
- Inspects vehicles and performs minor maintenance such as checking oil, fueling, and cleaning, sweeping and washing interior and exterior of vehicles.
- Checks vehicle equipment such as first aid box, and fire extinguisher.
- Picks up and discharges clients; assists clients needing special care.
- Coordinates with other drivers as required for special events or activities.
- Operates radios and telephones as required.
- Assists with training of new drivers.
- Loads and unloads packages.
- Provides assistance to wheelchair passengers as required.
- Prepares reports such as vehicle maintenance report.
High school diploma or GED; supplemented by up to 6 months previous experience driving 45 or more passenger vehicle and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Special Requirements
- CPR certified (must obtain within 3 months of hire)
- Florida CDL Class B with passenger endorsement
