Under general supervision, the purpose of the position is to supervise Lifeguards and develop/teach aquatic skills and water safety. Employees in this classification perform lifesaving and supervisory work. Position is responsible for supervision of Lifeguards, water safety, teaching aquatic skills and water safety, supervising/performing minor pool maintenance and clerical duties. Performs related work as directed.
Supervises and teaches a variety of aquatic skills including swimming and water safety.
Develops training schedules for aquatic skills training.
Serves as lifeguard; enforces pool use rules and regulations; insures safety of pool patrons.
Performs supervisory functions such as water testing applicants, scheduling, training, assigning work, setting standards, reviewing work, counseling, and disciplining.
Teaches water related courses such as Community Water Safety and Drowning Awareness.
Assists with special events such as children's summer camp and Spring Splash.
Supervises or performs a variety of pool related tasks such as checking pool water chemistry, cleaning pool, cleaning around pool, and maintaining related equipment.
Supervises or performs minor maintenance tasks such as cleaning office, maintaining bathrooms and picking up trash.
Meets and greets pool patrons; answers questions and maintains friendly, pleasing environment
Attends and conducts meetings and training classes to maintain or upgrade skills and certifications.
Prepares logs and records documenting activities and events associated with pool operations.

High school diploma or GED; supplemented by vocational/technical training in aquatic skills, water safety, swimming, or related field; supplemented by up to two (2) years previous experience and/or training involving water safety, and water safety training with supervisory experience preferred; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Special RequirementsCPR, First Aid, Lifeguard, Swimming Instructor, and WSI certified
