Position Summary
This position will be responsible for safe and effective individual, tandem, and small group fitness testing, evaluation, training program planning and instruction for participants from a wide variety of fitness backgrounds and physical abilities, as well as additional related opportunities as deemed appropriate by the Rec Center. Trainers should be comfortable and confident with fitness program design and progressions as well as positively influencing healthy behavior change within the scope of their practice.
Key Responsibilities
Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent and nationally recognized personal training certification or a degree in health and science field. At least one year of personal training and one years of customer service experience.
Desired: CPR/First Aid/AED Certified, Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science or strongly-related field. Education and/or certifications in nutrition, sports performance and/or weight management.
Starting rate of pay is $24.50 per hour. City residency is not required.
Offers of employment are conditional upon successful completion of a pre-employment drug test, physical and background check.

Key Responsibilities
- Provides exercise guidance and motivation to Rec Center patrons on the Fitness Floor.
- Conducts and evaluates fitness assessments.
- Plans and executes client-specific training sessions.
- Continually reassess client’s needs at each session and updates client programs accordingly; maintains accurate and thorough client records.
- Attends mandatory personal training meetings.
- Complies with, and promotes, safety and sanitary regulations.
- First responder as necessary at Department facilities.
- Participates in individual and group projects and presentations.
- Attends staff meetings as scheduled.
