What are the responsibilities and job description for the Wastewater Superintendent position at City of Lewisville, TX?
Ensure efficient and effective operation and maintenance of the Wastewater Treatment Plant and Collection System Facilities. Develops competent staff; coordinates technical and administrative activities; responsible for required reporting and documentation, preparing and monitoring fiscal budget, oversees projects and assists in the review of plans for projects and improvements. Organizes and collaborates with the Environmental Control Services Supervisor on Laboratory Operations and Utility Line Maintenance Operations Supervisor on Collection System Operations for assigned area of responsibility.

Work Hours:
Monday - Thursday: 7:30 AM - 5:30 PM; Fridays: 7:30 AM - 11:30 AM
Essential Functions
- Monitors and coordinates with personnel and contractors to ensure adequate coverage for all required work, schedules and shifts.
- Oversees the training and development of plant personnel and ensures plant personnel are appropriately certified. Ensures personnel work in a safe environment with proper procedures and equipment.
- Prepares all required reports and ensures they are submitted in accordance with associated permits and/or local, state, and federal requirements.
- Assists in the review and development of projects for the wastewater treatment plant and lift stations.
- Organizes, directs, and monitors progress and adjusts efforts as necessary.
- Ensures that proper equipment, materials, and services are available; follows purchasing policies for obtaining quotes and initiates purchase orders for vendors.
- Meets with public to review complaints in field related problems.
- Responds to emergency requests as needed.
- Performs all other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
High School Diploma or GED required.
College level courses in supervision, management and business preferred or equivalent experience and vocational training. Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
Experience
3 years of experience in a related field required.
2 years of supervisory experience required.
REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES
Knowledge of:
- Knowledge of wastewater treatment processes and procedures, lab operating procedures, and wastewater testing procedures; knowledge of applicable local, state and federal requirements.
- Knowledge of SCADA systems and the various components that make up those systems.
Ability to:
- Ability to accept responsibility and account for his/her actions.
- Ability to interpret lab testing results and modify treatment practices accordingly.
- Ability to follow instructions, safety practices and standard operating procedures in performing assigned tasks.
- Ability to be punctual and attend work regularly

Skills
- Skill in use of personal computer including Microsoft Office, Open Office or similar word processing programs, e-mail and the internet.
- Must possess skills in personnel supervision, training, and in coordinating operations for assigned area of resposibility.
Special Requirements
- Must submit to and pass a pre-employment drug test.
- Must possess a valid State of Texas Drivers License Class “C” and good driving record as defined by City policy.
- Must possess a Texas Commission on Environmental Quality “B” Wastewater Treatment Operator License, with the ability to possess a “A” license within six months. Class “A” Wastewater Treatment License is preferred.
