What are the responsibilities and job description for the Environmental Specialist I position at City of Lincoln/Lancaster County?
Hours: Full time, Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
Responsible for the collection, preservation and transportation of industrial and domestic wastewater samples; internal inspection of existing and newly constructed utility lines; installation, calibration and maintenance of flow measuring equipment; assist with tracking chemical spills and unusual waste discharges; and assist in special water quality studies.
Work involves descending by ladder to depths of up to 25 feet, lifting up to 75 pounds, and working under adverse weather conditions.
Minimum Qualifications/Necessary Special Requirements
Graduation from a vocational/technical school with major coursework in environmental science or technology, biology, chemistry or related field and six months of experience in the wastewater treatment field; or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the desirable knowledge, abilities and skills.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT
Possession of a valid driver's license when operating a vehicle is necessary to the satisfactory performance of assigned duties.
