The successful candidate will be responsible for Community Policing, investigating crimes, apprehending criminals, and working with the community to help with Community interactions and reduce crimes in the community. Duties of a Law Enforcement Officer:

Protects life and property through the enforcement of laws & regulations; Proactively patrols assigned areas

• Responds to calls for police service
• Conducts preliminary & follow-up criminal and traffic investigations
• Conducts interviews
• Prepares written reports and field notes of investigations and patrol activities
• Arrest and processes criminals
• Testifies in court
• Ability to exercise judgment in determining when to use force and to what degree
• Operate a law enforcement vehicle under emergency conditions day or night
• Comprehending legal documents including citations, affidavits, warrants and other documents.
• Commanding emergency personnel at accident emergencies and disasters
• Takes an active role in Community Oriented Policing
• Conduct traffic enforcement
• Self-initiate criminal investigations when needed.

Requirements

· Willing to submit to extensive medical and criminal background checks

· Valid AR Driver's License or the ability to quickly obtain one

· High school diploma: BS degree in police science or related field is desirable

· Certified Police Officers and uncertified applicants that are enthusiastic are highly recommended to apply.

Minimum Requirements to be a Police Officer in Arkansas

Minimum Age: 21 years of age

Minimum Education: High School Diploma or G.E.D

Citizenship: Must be a US Citizen

Other Requirements:

· Be fingerprinted and a search initiated of state and national fingerprint files to disclose any criminal record.

· Be free of a felony record.

· Be of good character as determined by a thorough background investigation

· Be examined by a licensed physician and meet the physical requirements prescribed

· Pass psychological exam

· Possess a valid AR driver’s license

· Successfully complete a CLEST firearms qualification and review departmental policies
