JOB TITLE: ADMINISTRATOR OF HOUSING
FLSA STATUS: EXEMPT
RATE OF PAY: $89,546 ANNUAL SALARY
NATURE OF WORK Performs work in highly responsible administrative and professional duties related to leading and overseeing housing initiatives within the City, focusing on community development, affordable housing programs, and ensuring access to safe and quality housing for residents. Establishing and sustaining productive relationships and partnerships with stakeholders, residents, landlords, Resident Councils, Board of Commissioners, City officials, and community organizations. Engaging in organizational decisions, offering advice, guidance, and direction to direct reports, and performing additional tasks as evident or assigned.
EXAMPLES OF WORK
Develop and implement strategic plans for housing programs and initiatives, aligning them with the overall goals of the city.
Lead efforts to expand affordable housing options, collaborating with developers, nonprofit organizations, and government agencies to create diverse and inclusive housing solutions.
Formulate housing policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Stay informed about housing-related legislation and advocate for policies that benefit the City.
Foster positive relationships with residents, community organizations, and stakeholders. Solicit feedback and involve the community in the development and enhancement of housing programs.
Work closely with city departments, housing authorities, and external partners to coordinate comprehensive housing strategies that address the needs of the City.
Identify and pursue grant opportunities to fund housing projects. Oversee the application and reporting processes, ensuring compliance with grant requirements.
Utilize data to assess housing needs, track program effectiveness, and make data-driven decisions for continuous improvement.
Prepare and present regular reports to City Council, highlighting the progress and outcomes of housing initiatives.
Undertakes additional tasks as deemed necessary.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OF WORK Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Public Administration, Housing Management, or a related field. Proven experience in housing and community development, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role. In-depth knowledge of affordable housing programs, regulations, and funding mechanisms. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively. Demonstrated success in strategic planning and project management. Experience in grant writing, application, and management. Familiarity with local, state, and federal housing policies and regulations.

WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment may occasionally include outside weather conditions. The employee will alternate between sitting, walking, and standing during their work hours. This job classification encompasses physical agility demands, including climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, pushing, pulling, repetitive motions, and manual dexterity. Sensory requirements encompass standard vision and hearing capabilities, along with the ability to express ideas effectively.
