What are the responsibilities and job description for the Finance Summer Intern position at City of Midland?

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
· Assists Finance Department with reconciliations and special projects as assigned.
· Assists the Budget Manager and the Budget Analyst with the development and administration of City’s operational budget; gathers and compiles budget, financial, and technical information from departments, schedules meetings, compiles materials and binders for the Budget Allocation Process, and other clerical duties as assigned.
· Assists in research and gathering of economic, financial, demographic, and statistical information; may be asked to create and update charts and tables.
· Supports the relationship between the City of Midland and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with visitors and City staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and City information; performs other duties as required or assigned.
Must be able to sit and stand in an office setting for hours at a time.
Education, Training and Experience Guidelines: Must have completed 2 semesters from an accredited university, preferably with an Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Public Administration degree plan.
Knowledge of:
- Personal computers, Excel, Word, Adobe applications

- Ability to comprehend and describe trends reflected in charts and graphs.
