Basic Purpose of the Job:
Under general supervision, performs assigned tasks related to the daily operation of the municipal court including data entry, ticket processing, cashier duties, assisting customers and clients and general office work. Prepares weekly court docket. Assists Judge in court and post court processing.

Job Requirements:
Must possess ability to work in a standard office setting; attend meetings at various sites within and away from the City with some evening and/or weekend hours required; strength to lift and carry materials up to 40 pounds; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate with employees and the public. Works primarily in clean, comfortable office environment; subject to many interruptions and pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries. Some outside work, with exposure to outside elements.

- Perform clerical and office functions such as data entry, maintenance of case files, and opening and closing the court offices and building. Assume Lead Court Clerk responsibilities in the absence of the Lead Court Clerk.
- Perform general office duties including answering phones, returning messages, and responding to inquiries concerning court policies and proceedings. Provide customer service online, over the phone, and in-person. Process and respond to emails daily, document and save attachments and correspondence.
- Assist with preparing jury summons, calling upon a bailiff, and maintaining a juror list.
- Perform cashier duties to include receiving and receipting payments in person and electronically. Balance and reconcile daily cash receipts. Make daily deposits. Ensure bonds, restitution, requisitions, and payments are properly processed.
- Assist with preparation and distribution of the weekly court docket and maintenance of case files. Review filings and motions from defendants and attorneys and process according to court policy. Review jail list daily and coordinate the scheduling of inmate visits via Webex and in person.
- Assist with courtroom setup and take down, assist the judge during court, and verify accuracy of documents. Review all evidence presented to the court. Process and execute orders of the judge.
- Submit conviction transcripts to Department of Motor Vehicles weekly.
- Perform informal arraignments and review hearings and accept Waiver and Guilty pleas as established in Administrative Orders. Schedule hearings and trials, issue subpoenas. Coordinate with useful public service agencies, enroll defendants for Useful Public Service and assign work sites.
- Process and mail notices for change of court dates, juvenile records, and failures to appear. Process internal and external records requests.
- Review warrantless arrest affidavits, motions, and orders, and present them to the Judge for review and signature. Quash warrants and coordinate with Montrose Police Department to reconcile warrants.

Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; college course work in business, criminal justice, public or judicial administration preferred.
- Two (2) years experience in a courtroom setting and/or public administration preferred.
- Strong customer service and cashier skills with the ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
- Familiarity with current municipal court rules, codes and ordinances, as well as police policies and procedures.
- Experience with streaming and case management software preferred."
- Current Court Basics classes required within six months of start date.
- Current Colorado driver's license with acceptable record.
