MUSTANG PARKS & RECREATION
JOB TITLE: Recreation Aide
SALARY: $8.00/HR
HOURS: Will be scheduled afternoons/evenings, 15-20 hours per week
Purpose of Position: This is a non-exempt position in the Parks and Recreation Department that will assist in day-to-day operations of the Recreation Center, keeping the entire facility clean and well stocked as well as providing outstanding customer service to all patrons.
Reporting Relationships:
Reports to Facility Supervisor
Essential Duties:
- Maintain a strong dedication to high quality customer service.
- Create a friendly and positive first impression with general public through a professional demeanor including dress, and personal grooming.
- Assist with fostering a safe and pleasant environment at the Recreation Center.
- Greet, assist customers and answer questions. Assist with information concerning all areas of Parks and Recreation.
- Monitor customer use of facility areas. Enforce all safety rules, policies and regulations in a calm and professional manner.
- Give tours and answer guest questions as needed.
- Clean cardio and weight equipment and re-rack weights when needed.
- Return equipment to where belongs and organizing equipment when necessary.
- Assist with upkeep, maintenance and daily and deep cleaning of facilities i.e. mirrors, taking out trash, cleaning restrooms.
- Perform routine locker room checks, as well as other areas.
- Maintain a professional and positive attitude at all times and reflects that attitude in all relationships with the public.
- Assist with handling emergencies and administering first aid as needed.
- Follow all city and department policies and procedures.
- Assist with room set up and cleaning after use.
- Assist with recreation programs and special events
- Perform duties in specific areas as assigned, including climbing wall, front desk and concession.
- Must report to work on a regular and timely basis.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Training and Experience
- Customer service experience preferred.
- Training provided.
- Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills
- Able to approach and connect with customers with excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to explain and enforce policies and rules in professional manner.
- Able to work with minimal supervision.
- Able to work as part of a team.
- License and Certificates
- Possess and maintain American Red Cross Adult and Pediatric CPR, AED, and First Aid Certification (or equivalent) within three months of employment.
- Possess and maintain workplace harassment training and blood borne pathogen training within three months of employment.
- Work Environment
- Work will be indoors and outdoors.
- Hours vary, includes working nights and weekends.
- May be required to lift up to twenty-five (25) pounds, stock supplies and perform janitorial duties.
