Position Summary
Develop and implement a strategic plan that supports the organization, departments, and community in creating goals that advance the City of New Brighton"s diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives. This is a high profile position that supports leadership, staff, Commission and Council with strategic planning, action plans, meeting facilitation, policy, and training and education to achieve results that advance racial equity and inclusion. Essential Functions

Provide strategic leadership, direction, guidance, and capacity building as it relates to the advancement of racial equity and inclusion within the organization and community.

Develop resource needs and an implementation plan based on the City"s Equity Strategic Action Plan, in order to identify, measure, and achieve outcomes in alignment with the City of New Brighton"s equity philosophy and organizational values.
Manage and lead the change required to assist the organization in promoting and embracing new policies, practices, and procedures that advance objectives of the Equity Strategic Action Plan.
Serve as a member of the City"s Senior Leadership Team in order to contribute guidance, recommendations and insight at an organizational level about best practices, principles, and policies related to equity work, and serve as an influential decision-maker.
Lead and facilitate the work of the internal and existing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Strategy Team in on-going work to ensure equal outcomes for all residents of New Brighton.
Provide timely and on-going internal training and education on diversity, equity, inclusion, respectful workplace, cultural competency and more to the organization.
Assist staff in ensuring racial equity is a consideration for new and existing programs by developing toolkits and providing data, support, and recommendations.

Serve as an effective and educational staff liaison to the New Brighton Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Commission.

Identify, collect, and report on metrics, benchmarks, and outcomes from the Equity Strategic Action Plan to provide accountability on progress towards goals.
Attend meetings, create agendas, coordinate presenters / presentations for each meeting, facilitate meetings and provide technical assistance and guidance to the Commission.
Provide guidance and assistance as necessary to other City of New Brighton Commissions on their work as it relates to incorporating goals, practices, and principles of furthering equity in the community.
Identify and build relationships with City leaders and other community stakeholders.

Coordinate and support community engagement efforts in partnership with other City of New Brighton departments.

Establish and maintain strong relationships and partnerships with culturally specific organizations and educations institutions in the community in order to advance equity and inclusion.
Develop public programs and events that support overall equity goals of the City of New Brighton and bring community together.
Advise the organization on equitable, inclusive, and impactful engagement efforts.
Develop internal and external communications to share educational resources, Equity Strategic Action Plan updates, and to enhance awareness around diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. Includes writing articles for newsletters, websites, social media, memos, grant proposals, and other documents.

Performs strategic and high-level administrative tasks as needed at the direction of the Assistant City Manager.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree.
Three years of related experience that includes project management, community and stakeholder engagement, organizational leadership, education, communication, and/or advocacy.
Demonstrated commitment to, knowledge of, and experience with contemporary issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Ability to work independently, be organized, multitask, and manage data.
Desired/Preferred Qualifications
New Desired/Preferred Qualifications -
A Master's degree in business or public administration, human services, education, or closely related field.
Experience working with racial equity and inclusion policies at an organizational level.
Experience working with advisory boards or commissions.
Previous experience working or living with diverse populations.

Fluency in Spanish, Hmong, Somali, Russian, Vietnamese, or other non-English language(s).
