NATURE OF WORK
Under general supervision, performs routine manual work involving janitorial duties; cleans offices, libraries and other buildings.
EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED
Sweeps, mops, scrubs and dusts floors in assigned office buildings, libraries, halls and rest rooms; waxes floors; operates buffing machine; washes windows and walls.
Cleans bathroom and rest room fixtures; replenishes supplies; dusts and polishes furniture and fixtures; empties trash cans; moves office and similar furniture and equipment.
Replaces light bulbs, unstops lavatories and toilets; reports structures and equipment requiring repair; may tend lawns and trim shrubs; assist with snow removal and ground adjacent to the assigned building; sets up rooms for meetings and activities.
Performs other work which is consistent with the essential elements of the job.
DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS
Working knowledge of cleaning methods, materials and equipment.
Working knowledge of the use of cleaning materials for various types of building and furniture surfaces.
Skill in the use of cleaning equipment and machines.
Ability to follow written or oral instructions.
Ability to read and write English.
Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with employees, officials and the public.
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Any combination of experience and training equivalent to completion of the eighth grade and some laboring or janitorial experience.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Some positions in this classification shall be required to possess a valid driver’s license as required by the State of Nebraska.

Pay: $15.00 - $20.63 per hour
