Oakdale, Minnesota (current population: 28,315) is currently accepting applications to fill the position of Street & Fleet Superintendent. This position serves as a supervisor providing extensive supervision, leadership, technical direction, coordination, administration, and management for all Public Works Employees assigned to the street division.
The Street & Fleet Superintendent works under the general direction of the Public Works Manager. This prepares and carries out comprehensive operational and maintenance programs for the City's streets, and vehicle/equipment maintenance in a manner that will assure the safe, economical, and efficient operation of these systems.
Major Responsibilities
- Directs and supervises street crew and coordinates the use of equipment and materials to achieve maximum productivity. Schedule, assign, prioritize, and inspect the work as completed by the crew.
- Direct emergency repairs on streets, snowplowing, and sanding as needed and may personally perform services in emergency situations. Direct supervision of the snow plowing operations.
- Assists the Public Works Manager in the establishment of operating policies for Public Works maintenance programs. Administers the policies of the Public Works Department.
- Develop an overall long-range plan of street maintenance programs.
- Coordinates maintenance activities in conjunction with civic events.
- Provides for the scheduled maintenance of the City fleet.
- Assists the Public Works Manager in the preparation of an annual budget to provide for the operating needs of the Street & Fleet Division of the Public Works Department. Monitors and controls expenditures relating to tools, materials and supplies.
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Technical/vocational training in Public Works related field. Relevant work experience can be substituted.
- Class B Minnesota Driver's License (with air brakes), and a driving record acceptable with the city insurance carrier
- Class D water and sewer operator’s license
- MPCA Underground Storage Tank operator level A&B
- At least five years of operational experience in construction management, public works, and/or facilities management
- Ability to read, and comprehend construction plans
- Ability to obtain MPCA Level 2 Smart salting operations
- Ability to obtain APWA Snow & ice control supervisor certificate
- Ability to obtain MNLTAP road Scholar certificate
Desired Qualifications
- APWA Public Works Certificate
- Seven years of operational experience
- Certified Work Site Traffic Control Certificate
- MPCA Underground Storage Tank operator level A&B
- MPCA Level 2 Smart salting operations
- APWA Snow & ice control supervisor certificate
- MNLTAP road Scholar certificate
Benefits
- 2022 Pay Range: $96,213.70 - $120,267.12 annually
