Job Summary
Please apply at www.ormondbeach.org/jobs. Performs skilled craftsman duties in one or more of the building maintenance trades. Exercises independent judgment in a variety of situations. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Building Maintenance Foreman.
Responsibilities and Duties
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervises and performs skilled level work of one or more trades in the construction, installation, repair and maintenance of city buildings and facilities.
- Coordinates delivery of services with outside contractors.
- Requisitions materials, equipment and supplies for work projects.
- Keeps records of time, production and personnel.
- Responsible for operating and maintaining all types of equipment used in the Building Maintenance section.
- Leads and instructs in the safe and proper use of all power operated tools and equipment.
- Participates in on-call and after-hours duties as assigned. Must be available for overtime and emergency call-outs when necessary.
- Assists in preparation for, response to, and recovery from, the impacts of a wide variety of disasters or emergency situations and may be temporarily assigned to other duties, locations, and shifts.
- Meets attendance requirements.
- Promotes positive customer service environment internally and externally.
- Performs other job related functions as assigned.
- Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Assists in supervising and instructing work site crew in daily operations. May perform other supervisory duties as assigned.
- Qualifications and Skills
Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent recognized certificate. Three (3) years of experience involving highly skilled repair and maintenance of buildings and facilities similar to those owned or operated by the City.

- Possession of a valid Florida drivers’ license.
- Trade specific license or certification may be required based on area of expertise, i.e. electrical, HVAC, plumbing, etc.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the methods, tools, equipment, materials and techniques of a special trade.
- Considerable knowledge of the safety requirements, state and local codes, and general orders relating to the building, metal and mechanical trades.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
