Facilities Maintenance Technician - Public Works

Under direction, performs a variety of semi-skilled welding, electrical, building parks maintenance and repair tasks; assists other work units as assigned. Work/Supervise individuals in special work programs. 
  • Performs carpentry, electrical, plumbing, heating, ventilating and air conditioning, welding and other semi-skilled building and mechanical repair tasks.
  • Inspects, repairs and replaces Parks play ground equipment and accessories.
  • Assists in major repair and remodeling projects as required; installs and/or builds partitions, installs paneling, drywall, molding and trim
  • Assists other units as assigned
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Completion of secondary education, plus one (1) year vocational training or experience in semi-skilled welding, electrical, building and mechanical maintenance repair work, or equivalent; possession of a valid state of Kentucky motor vehicle operator’s license.       Knowledge of methods, tools and practices used in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, heating, ventilating and air conditioning, building and property maintenance and repair.  Skill in use of maintenance repair tools and equipment, including small motorized equipment.  Ability to follow general instruction.  Ability to perform moderate to heavy manual labor.  Effective communication skills.  Ability to work in a team oriented environment.
 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:        
Ability to tolerate various indoor and outdoor temperatures and climates; perform moderate to heavy repetitive physical labor for extended period of time. Ability to operate internal radio system.  Must maintain the physical requirements to successfully pass the Essential Job Function test as required for this position
