What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lifeguard-B position at City of Pasadena?
The ideal candidate will be dependable and able to facilitate swimming lessons for customers of all ages. This person must also be Red Cross certified in Lifeguarding, CPR for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid, and be a proficient swimmer. To be successful in this position, individuals must be able to work in a team setting, focus on safety, and be attentive to the needs of the customer.
CERTIFICATIONS
Red cross certifications MUST be attached to the application at the time of submission to participate in this examination process.
WORK SCHEDULE
This is a full-time position working up to 40 hours per week. Facility hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00 am to 7:00 pm.
SWIM TEST DATE
September 20, 2023 at 6:00 pm
*A swim test taken with the City of Pasadena within the last six months is valid.
1. Under the supervision of the Aquatics Supervisor or designee, may coordinate, supervise, and instruct activities at a community swimming pool according to assignment.
2. Ensures adherence to water safety rules and practices and responds to participants in danger by performing water rescues and administering first aid; participates in pool maintenance.
3. Supervises the pool and decks of swimming facility.
4. Enforces regulations; prevents accidents.
5. Effects rescues.
6. Assists with program activities.
7. Performs other related duties as required. CORE COMPETENCIES

VACANCY INFORMATION
There are currently two full-time vacancies in the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department. The resulting eligibility list from this recruitment may be used to fill these vacancies and similar vacancies in the future.
Candidates selected for this position are subject to a one-year probationary work period.
All candidates are required to maintain current certifications as a condition of employment and are required to participate in and successfully complete Title 22 First Aid Certification after employment.
The City of Pasadena requires a pre-employment drug test consistent with current state and federal law. Candidates are required to successfully complete medical examinations including drug screen and a criminal background live scan screen.
