The Communications & Outreach Coordinator at the City of Pasco is central to our mission of fostering a well-informed and engaged community. As a coordinator, you will be instrumental in implementing comprehensive communication strategies and marketing plans that enhance the visibility of the city’s initiatives and achievements. Your efforts will directly contribute to promoting the City of Pasco's goals, projects, and overall image, ensuring that all residents are well-connected and actively participating in shaping their community.

In this position, you will create and distribute engaging content across multiple platforms, manage city websites and online channels. Additionally, your role involves planning and coordinating community outreach events and fostering strong relationships with residents, local groups, and other stakeholders. This is a proactive role requiring a blend of creativity, strategic planning, and community engagement, designed for someone eager to drive positive change and enhance public understanding and involvement in local governance. Through your work, you will help maintain and grow the vibrant, tight-knit community spirit that defines Pasco.

Implementation of Communication Strategies:
  • Execute communication strategies and plans developed by communications team.
  • Coordinate the day-to-day activities required to implement the overall communication strategy.
  • Manage and update city websites and online channels.
Content Creation and Distribution:
  • Develop engaging and compelling content for various channels, including social media, newsletters, press releases, and website.
  • Ensure timely and consistent distribution of content to reach target audiences.
Community Outreach:
  • Plan and coordinate outreach events, workshops, and other meetings to facilitate dialogue and community engagement.
  • Cultivate relationships with stakeholders, community groups, and residents to promote collaboration, feedback, and informed decision-making.
Project Management:
  • Oversee the planning and execution of campaigns, ensuring deadlines are met and goals are achieved.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align initiatives with broader organizational objectives.
Brand Management:
  • Maintain brand consistency across all communication channels.
  • Work closely with design teams to ensure visual and messaging alignment with brand guidelines.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
  • Monitor and analyze the performance of initiatives.
  • Prepare regular reports on key metrics, providing insights for continuous improvement.
Committee Coordination: 
  • Coordinate activities of internal committees, boards, and commissions as assigned.
Event Support and Coordination
  • Coordinate and/or assist in planning, logistics, and marketing for events managed and/or supported by the City of Pasco.
Other Functions: 
  • Provide backup coverage for broadcasting City meetings and public events.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • May perform as on-camera and voice talent for city media content.
Minimum Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Communications, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Two years of program coordination experience. 
  • Proven experience in communications, public relations, or related field, preferably in a governmental or public sector environment.

  • One year project management experience in multi-discipline organization.
Licenses and Certifications:
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.

Working Conditions: 
  • Primarily office-based with occasional field assignments.
  • Involves regular use of office equipment and computers.
  • Requires attendance at meetings or events outside regular business hours including nights and weekends.
