Qualifying Requirements:
Your City of Pittsburgh application will be reviewed and your work experience and education/training will be evaluated to determine if you meet the qualifying eligibility requirements listed below for this position. You will be sent an eligibility letter regarding your eligible/ineligible status.
WORK EXPERIENCE: The application must clearly show one (1) year of full-time experience in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, public policy, or a related field. (Full-time is defined as 32 hours or more per week. Less than full-time experience will be calculated on a pro-rated basis).
EDUCATION/TRAINING: The application must clearly show a Bachelor’s Degree from a fully accredited institution in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, Language Arts, Public Policy, Public Administration, or related field. The application must clearly show a Bachelor's Degree in Communications, (See NOTE under the General Application Requirements Section above regarding the verification of education/training).
EQUIVALENCY: Education/training and/or work experience may be substituted on a year for year basis if the application clearly shows the required number of years to meet the Total Qualifying Requirement for this position (based on the sum of work experience and education/training listed above). The Total Qualifying Requirement is five (5) years. (See NOTE under the General Application Requirements Section above regarding the verification of education/training).

- Manages the development and execution of traditional and digital marketing campaigns, outreach, public awareness and education for the department.
- Assists in the coordination of marketing campaigns, as needed in coordination with other departments.
- Maintains active social media presence of existing Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.
- Works with other staff to create effective digital and print communication materials including, but not limited to media releases, fact sheets, newsletters and develops effective working relationships with supervisors, associates, outside agencies/authorities and the general public.
- Acts as liaison to communications staff of other City Departments
- Responds to incoming 311 calls and fields the publics concerns.
- Maintains all templates of official departmental communications (letterhead, memo, logo etc).
- Works collaboratively with program supervisors to communicate information about departmental events and activities across all program areas. i.e.; the senior monthly calendar, rec program updates.
- Effectively leads and/or participates in multi-disciplinary, multi-department teams to develop outstanding content for citizens.
- Builds relationships with venders in exploring new web-based solutions to meet the department’s needs.
- Assists in the development and maintenance of software and web-based tools including but not limited to: RecPro, Santa’s Tickets, Jet Pay, Zoom, Eventbrite etc.
- Performs activities and functions of related lower-level personnel as assigned or required.
- Performs such other related tasks and duties that are assigned or required.
