Geographic Information System Technician

Job Description: · Design, create, and update digital based mapping and spatial analysis projects as assigned · Assembles data from GPS, local surveys, engineering drawings, local and state agencies and other entities for mapping and analysis · Create and enter new data into GIS databases · Researches, investigates, corrects, and verifies geospatial data · Assists and supports with the development of and adherence to required standards, controls, procedures, and performance measures related to geographic information systems · Assists with planning, developing, and coordinating all GIS related systems to create and maintain comprehensive and cohesive GIS databases · Analyzes, troubleshoots and resolves GIS application issues · Perform related work as required. These additional duties may be representative of tasks typically performed by those in a lesser or more advanced job grade. Education and Experience · Associate’s degree in Geography, Surveying, Planning, Engineering, Computer Science or related field. · 1-3 years of experience using ESRI ArcGIS and database related applications; OR · Equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities · Knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS, Microsoft SQL, and similar systems involving automated mapping software, database software, and related products. · Ability to understand mapping layers, engineering and architectural drawings. · Ability to interpret survey data. · Ability to compile and analyze statistical data and input into databases. · Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents. · Skilled in creating and maintaining interactive web-based applications. Compensation Details: The hourly wage for this position is $18.03- $19.83 per hour.
