What you get to do as the Empowered Neighborhoods Program Coordinator II
- Collaboratively develop bureau wide program amendments and support bureau projects by identifying equity impacts and providing recommendations for more equitable outcomes for customers and community members.
- Support and empower construction and development projects for BIPOC and disabled business owners, homeowners and artist or art organizations.
- Lead collaborative efforts with internal BDS and other city staff, and external skilled volunteers, to support clients as they plan, draft, engineer, permit, and construct their projects.
- Work with local nonprofits and community organizations who are also assisting the BIPOC, and disability communities maintain and improve their homes and properties.
- Advocate for clients and design,j alternative methods to construction such as appeals.
- Research and identify additional resources to support client’s projects.

Work Location
Many positions within the City are designated as hybrid and currently the City requires you to work in-person one day per week. Beginning in April 2023, most hybrid employees will be expected to perform at least half of their work in-person.

Applicants must specifically address and demonstrate in their supplemental question responses and resume how their education, training, work experience and/or lived experience, meets each of the following minimum qualifications:
Knowledge and commitment to understanding and eradicating structural racial inequity which includes understanding issues surrounding access, equity, diversity, inclusion, implicit bias and institutional racism and their relationships to the practice of community engagement.- Knowledge of the principles and practices of business communication, program administration, and community outreach activities.
- Ability to collaborate with communities of color and people traditionally unrepresented in local decision-making and to ensure inclusive participation and communication for those underrepresented communities.
- Ability to research, plan, and implement public information, awareness, and education programs to build and maintain public awareness of mission and goals.
- Ability to analyze and explain relevant laws, ordinances, and policies related to client/customer projects.
- Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 per City/State mandate or have an approved exception by date of hire.
