The Optimist Community Center Recreation Program Analyst (Assistant Center Director) plans, organizes, and directs the operations and activities Optimist Community Center personally with the Center Director or through subordinate employees. Central duties include the ability to dynamically engage the community and conduct outreach to underserved populations to develop and market programs for diverse ages and populations. Additionally, this role supervises part time staff and volunteers.
Optimist Community Center:
Optimist Community Center, built in 1973 is a 10,800 square foot facility located in the North Raleigh on 30.7 acres of land adjacent to Optimist Pool. The community center has a conditioned gymnasium, medium size classroom, and a warming kitchen. The Park includes a recently renovated playground, nature amphitheater, tennis courts, baseball and softball fields, and a connection to the Shelley Lake Greenway Trail. Optimist Community Center also manages North Hills and Cedar Hills Parks. Optimist Community host a variety of recreation programs, activities, and camps including volleyball, pickleball, fitness, and art for preschoolers through adults.
This position works at a community center that is open 7 days a week. Flexibility is required to be available for staff meetings, facility events, and providing coverage to part-time staff.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in parks and recreation, business, or public administration or directly related field and up to one year of related experience.
OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.
Licensing/Certifications:
CPR/First Aid/AED/EPI certification, or the ability to obtain within 60 days post-hire.
Preferred Licensing and Certifications:

Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (Note: City of Raleigh additionally offers support in obtaining this certification).

Valid North Carolina Class C Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record, or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire.

Five years of professional parks and recreation programming, planning and/or facility management experience.
