Solid Waste Laborer

We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking individual to join our team as a Temporary Solid Waste Laborer. This role is instrumental in maintaining the cleanliness and environmental integrity of our community while taking on a crucial role in the smooth operation of our Solid Waste, Landfill, and Material Recovery Facility (MRF). This position involves collecting yard waste from residential customers, operating under various weather conditions, and ensuring efficient waste management practices.

Position Details

This position assists in Solid Waste, Landfill, and Material Recovery Facility (MRF) operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Collect yard waste from curbside locations at residential properties. Ensure comprehensive collection and cleanliness.
• Engage in lifting/moving yard waste bags and containers, with weights up to 80 pounds.
• Operate on the back of a rear-load garbage truck, utilizing automated tipper systems for efficient collection. May also operate hand or power tools as necessary for facility operations.
• Assist in garbage and yard waste collection in hard-to-reach areas and perform tasks requiring special attention.
• Participate in container maintenance, litter pickup around the facility, and perform custodial or minor facility maintenance tasks as needed.
• Perform inventory control duties, ensuring materials and supplies are adequately stocked and accounted for.
• Adhere to safety guidelines, work collaboratively with team members, and contribute to a productive work environment.

Minimum Qualifications

  Age: 18 years or older.
• Education/Experience: No education or experience required
• Licenses: A valid driver's license is a plus.
• Physical Demands: This position is highly active and physical in nature, requiring candidates to possess a good level of physical fitness and endurance. Employees must have the ability to maneuver and operate within various outdoor settings, adapting to the terrain and tasks at hand. Must be able to lift up to 80 pounds.
