Under general direction, performs a variety of duties related to grants administration, including proposal development, grant writing, grant monitoring and reporting; researches grant opportunities to determine applicability; prepares grant applications, proposed project information, and project needs summaries.

Examples of duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Performs complex grant administration and grant coordination, including assisting City departments with the development, writing, and submission of grant proposals and reviews grant guidelines for eligibility and applicability;
  • Researches and assess the feasibility of grants and pursues grant funding opportunities;
  • Monitors federal and state funding source notices and publications; and maintains contact with local agencies to identify potential sources of funding;
  • Develops grant project estimates and budgets;
  • Processes invoices and performs related accounting duties for grant program expenditures;
  • Assists in the implementation of grant projects per the proposed grant scope identified under grant agreements;
  • Monitors grant activity and provides grant reports on project progress;
  • Submits all final close-out grant materials, including invoicing for reimbursement or collection of grant funds;
  • Ensures compliance to grant guidelines;
  • Maintains grant records and files;
  • Coordinates assigned grant activities with other departments, divisions and outside agencies;
  • Provides information and assistance to departments and other stakeholders regarding assigned grant programs and services;
  • Assists in the communication of grant projects to the community, including soliciting feedback if required to satisfy grant requirements;
  • Centralizes information regarding grants acquired and status for each;
  • Assists with City budget planning specific to grant projects;
  • Attends grant workshops and classes, seminars and meetings to advance the City’s grant efforts;
  • Maintains familiarity with the City’s regulations, policies and procedures;
  • Prepares and presents reports to City Council;
  • Assists as needed with other grant-related work; and
  • Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Experience:
  • Three years of experience in grant administration and development or related work that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the duties of the position.
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in public administration, accounting, business administration, finance, or a related field.  For degrees obtained outside of the U.S., an official equivalency evaluation is required.
Licenses and Certificates:             
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.  Possession of an appropriate California Driver's License is required upon hire.

Essential functions require the following physical abilities and work environment: 
  • Ability to work in a standard office environment; ability to travel to different sites and locations;
  • Regularly required to talk or hear.  Required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

1. Unofficial transcripts of a Bachelor's degree with emphasis in public administration, accounting, business administration, finance, or a related field.
