The City of Renton’s Risk Management team is recruiting for a risk analyst with an emphasis on safety. We are a dynamic and collaborative team that strives to make a positive impact to the City by supporting our employees to do their best work. In this position you will aid management and staff in a variety of responsibilities to include coordinating safety programs, organizing employee safety training, and conducting regular safety inspections and audits. The successful candidate will have experience in encouraging active participation from employees through the Safety Committee. This position is part of a series; placement at the Analyst or Senior Analyst level depends on the education, experience, and skill set of the incumbent.
Annual Salary
Risk Analyst: $86,412-$105,348
Senior Risk Analyst: $90,840-$110,664

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Coordinate and maintain the citywide employee Accident Prevention Program, including Hearing Conservation, Respiratory Protection, Hazard Communication, and all related safety programs and policies to assure compliance with applicable regulations.
- Organize, coordinate, and/or conduct safety training courses as well as citywide training programs; assist in the development of training content.
- Ensure city and departmental compliance with applicable safety laws, regulations, and other legal requirements.
- Provide assistance in the development, implementation, administration, and review of safety and risk management policies and procedures.
- Coordinate the citywide Central Safety Committee.
- Oversee employee hazard, incident, and injury reporting via the online system; maintain OSHA 300 log and Sharps injury log.
- Establish and maintain evacuation plans for all facilities; train Emergency Team Leaders in evacuation procedures.
- Assist with administration of the city’s purchased insurance programs such as liability, property, workers’ compensation excess coverage, boiler and machinery, etc.
- Assist in the evaluation and administration of the city’s self-insured programs such as liability, property, and automobile physical damage; act as a city’s liaison with third party administrators to provide research and information.
- Assist with the determination of insurance requirements for special activities and make recommendations for compliance with legal codes, regulations, and insurer recommendations.
- Pursue possible restitution/ subrogation cases to recover funds owed to the city; make court appearances as necessary. Oversee the administration and adjudication of all non-litigation claims; maintain claims and lawsuit files and summaries within the online system.
- Act as Risk Manager in the manager’s absence, as assigned.

- Remain current with relevant technological advancements as it relates to field.
- Participate in and help provide cross-training in processes as directed by management to ensure a well-rounded team for coverage purposes.
- Maintain regular, reliable, and punctual attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- May be assigned to support City priorities during emergencies.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Risk Management, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field;
- Associate Safety Professional (ASP) or higher safety credentials or substantial progress towards achieving this designation, or its equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Successful passing of a required driving record check.
- Successful passing of a required background check.
Risk Management Analyst
In addition to the requirements above:
Minimum 2 years of safety or risk management experience in workplace safety, loss control, risk assessment, Property and Casualty self-insured programs administration, or other related experience.
- Or minimum 6 years of relevant education and experience.
Senior Risk Management Analyst
In addition to the requirements above:
- Minimum 4 years of safety or risk management experience in workplace safety, loss control, risk assessment, Property and Casualty self-insured programs administration, or other related experience.
- Or minimum 8 years of relevant education and experience.
- Associate in Risk Management (ARM) Certification.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Drive to offsite locations to perform essential functions.
