CITY OF REYNOLSBURG - CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION
PLANS EXAMINER
Plans Examiner is a Civil Service Classified position. This position is Full Time working 30 hours per week. The position is under the direction of the Chief Building Official.
Typical Qualifications:
· Architectural or Engineering degree.
- Capable of understanding and interpreting building codes and reference standards.
- Familiar with general building construction procedures and activities.
Licensure or Certification requirements:
Valid Ohio driver’s license
State of Ohio registration for architect or engineer
Master Plans Examiner Certification or Interim Approval issued by the State of Ohio Board of
Building Standards.
(Optional) Building Official Certification or Interim Approval issued by the State of Ohio Board of
Building Standards (must complete thirty (30) hours of continuing education as required by
the State of Ohio Board of Building Standards for each certificate held in order to maintain
employment.
Examples of Duties:
Reviews both commercial and residential construction plans, blueprints and other project
documentation in order to ensure code compliance
Issues plan approvals, issues adjudication orders or correction letters for non-conformance
work items, stop work orders, and certificates of occupancy as needed.
