**The duration of the Mayors Fellow Program is 10 weeks, May 20 - July 26, 2024**
The Richmond Public Library - Main Library is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Library Technician Intern-Graphics. The incumbent assigned to the Outreach and Engagement Department of the Richmond Public Library will be responsible and assist the Lead Management Analyst, Associate for providing graphic design services for the Richmond Public Library system, the Friends of the Richmond Public Library, the Richmond Public Library Foundation Board, and occasionally Library partners.
- Creating digital and physical graphics for Library programs, events, services, and resources.
- Producing and developing marketing materials for submission to local newspapers, e-Newsletters, community calendars, and other advertising opportunities.
- Collaborating with Library staff and partners to develop new graphics materials based on staff and community needs.
- Organizing and maintaining physical and digital graphics files for ease of access and preservation.
- Printing and packaging marketing materials for outreach events and as needed for Library staff.
- Performing other related duties as assigned.
This position is considered an Essential Personnel, which means that the incumbent is required to work when the City is closed due to public emergencies, critical or hazardous conditions or inclement weather.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:The incumbent has considerable knowledge of using computer programs such as Microsoft Office Suites (Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) and Adobe Creative Cloud and other SAAS graphic production applications. Must have a background in graphic design, art, or related field. Must possess principles of providing customer service, including meeting quality standard for services and customer satisfaction. Must have an understanding of how to use basic office equipment, computer hardware, mobile devices, scanners, video and audio production equipment. The individual will follow the City Library’s procedures and policies.
The individual can demonstrate skills to create high quality displays, flyers, social media electronic graphics, website graphics, advertisements, and other promotional materials. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. Must be able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Must be skilled in communicating results of analyses and recommendations professionally and effectively with senior management and peers. Must be able to draft and revise written and image based documents and graphics. Must be skilled in maintaining physical and digital files in an organized and easily accessible manner.
This individual can demonstrate the ability to be creative, be able to easily adapt to various situations, analyze a variety of scenarios and situations, make decisions, multi-task, problem solve, communicate orally and in writing, and work as part of a team.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in graphics, design, or a field related to assignment
- An equivalent combination of training and experience (as approved by the department) may be used to meet the minimum qualifications of the classification
