What are the responsibilities and job description for the Scorekeeper position at City of Roanoke?
The City of Roanoke is seeking a scorekeeper to work in the Department of Parks and Recreation. Performs routine clerical and technical work keeping score sheets and/or time clock for youth and adult sports, including football, basketball, soccer, softball and baseball, kickball & dodgeball. Does related work as required and work is performed under regular supervision. Knowledge of scorekeeping and timekeeping practices and procedures including the ability to keep score in the official format for sport assigned; the ability to operate timing device for designated sport in facility assigned; and the ability to write in a legible manner. Must be familiar with and abide by the rules and bylaws of the respective sport of league. Candidates must have good communication skills; be able to quickly evaluate information and make decisions and judgement calls easily; be able to resolve conflicts and negotiate while handling disputes or conflicts. Any combination of education and experience equivalent to completion of the 9th grade and some experience keeping sports scores and times. Must be 18 years of age or older. Typical work schedule is 24-36 wks/yr, 15-20 hrs/wk, including nights & weekends. Number of games is dependent upon program duration. Schedules are negotiated w/ the Athletic staff.
