What are the responsibilities and job description for the Business Liaison position at City of Rochester, NY?
This is a professional staff position which supports a variety of city economic development initiatives. Activities may involve feasibility analysis, strategic planning and implementation of economic development projects. Employees of this class may be responsible for researching and analyzing commercial, corporate, and industrial competitiveness; conducting studies of national economic trends; preparing cost-benefit analyses; formulation of financial assistance programs; structuring business and real estate deals and managing development projects; performing financial and credit analyses; implementing business outreach programs; identifying business development opportunities and recruiting businesses to the City. The employee works under the general supervision of a higher level employee. Related work is performed as required.
This is a Competitive Class position. The individual selected to fill this vacancy will begiven a provisional appointment and will be required to participate in the next Civil Service Examination for this title.
A qualified applicant may be provisionally appointed and serve in the position until a Civil Service Examination is administered and an appropriate eligible list can be established to make a permanent appointment in accordance with the Civil Service Rule of Three. (See "

CITY RESIDENCY WILL BE REQUIRED WITHIN ONE YEAR OF HIRE.
- Assists in the administration of programs aimed at the creation, promotion, retention, and growth of City businesses;
- Assists City businesses with the development of plans to grow within the city of Rochester;
- Represents the City in dealing with a variety of people, such as private businesses, public agencies, business associations, and the general public regarding business development;
- Assists in the identification and application of appropriate financial assistance programs for new and existing businesses;
- Provides technical assistance and identifies and solicits additional funding sources and programs for existing and potential business owners;
- Manage business development projects utilizing City financial and technical resources, and coordinating effort with other internal and external organizations.
- Process City loan and grant applications to assist business development.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Economics, City Planning, Urban Studies, or closely related field AND one (2) years of experience in planning, providing, and evaluating programs and services for the public.
OR
Associate’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Economics, City Planning, Urban Studies, or closely related field AND three (3) years of experience in planning, providing, and evaluating programs and services for the public.
Salary : $60,027 - $79,148
