Nature of Work
This is a supervisory position within the Recreation and Sports Division of the Park and Recreation Department. The incumbent will perform managerial and administrative duties in planning and directing daily operations of sports and recreation programs offered at indoor and outdoor facilities throughout the City of Rochester. Areas of supervision and programming include: youth and adult sports, fitness programs, recreation activities and classes, adaptive recreation and city-wide health initiatives. Programs offered will be through a combination of working with community partners and parks and recreation staff led programs. Duties of the position will be performed at indoor facilities and outdoors in City parks. Pay: Hiring range of $85,306 - $100,361 with the opportunity to advance to $125,451 based on time in the role and successful performance.

*Provide supervision to assigned employees- Provide work direction to employees relative to the completion of designated assignments; delegate responsibilities as appropriate.
- Provide employees with ongoing coaching and feedback; conduct annual performance evaluations in compliance with organizational policies; initiate corrective action when appropriate.
- Partner with the designated human resources business partner to implement effective hiring and selection practices.
- Assist with the development and maintenance of divisional budgets and strategic priorities.
- Ensure employee personnel, timekeeping, and training records are accurately maintained per City policy and statutory requirements.
- Assist with the development and maintenance of divisional budgets and strategic priorities.
- Management of internal and external assigned projects, including solicitation of contractors/vendors, tracking of funding/expenditures, assuring proper staffing and project closeout. (ie for construction projects, maintenance projects, custodial care projects)
- Prepare specifications, obtain bids/quotes and purchase operational equipment and supplies.
- Track and work within the financial budgets established for designated business units and/or staffing.
- Perform job cost analysis and provide cost savings recommendations.
- Hire and schedule seasonal staff to facilitate and officiate adult sports leagues
- Collaborate with community/sports groups on the use of facilities and scheduling of tournaments
- Evaluate participation levels, cost, and facilities to ensure programs being offered meet the goals of residents
- Handle questions, comments, complaints about recreation leagues brought forward by members of the public
- Hire and schedule seasonal staff to operate and maintain safety in City of Rochester outdoor pools & beaches

- Handle questions, comments, complaints about the aquatics program brought forward by members of the public
- Coordinate City-wide recreation and health initiatives.
- Serve as department liaison with non-profit organizations and volunteer groups.
- Supervisor administrative staff within the Parks and Recreation department
- Responsible for the operation and management of the recreation software
*ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Parks and Recreation Management; Recreation, Park, and Leisure Studies; Sports and Recreation Management; or closely related field of study, AND at least three (3) years of progressively responsible experience planning and directing daily operations of sports and recreation programs.
Licenses and/or Certifications
