What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nurse Practitioner position at City of Santa Monica?
Definition:
The mid-level practitioner, using standardized procedures, elicits patient's medical and social history, performs review of systems, initiates lab/radiological tests and studies, provides health tracking and counseling, monitors and manages stabilized chronic conditions, provides care to uncomplicated pre- and post-natal patients, charts findings, exercises independent judgment in the management/delivery of service in accor¬dance with established NEVHC, LARFPC, CHDP, MCH, CPSP, and other regulatory agency guidelines.
Reports to: Medical Director
Qualifications:
1. Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a valid, current CA Registered Nurse license to practice and have completed a training program at an accredited institution with certification as a Nurse Practitioner in family, pediatric or OB/GYN services.
2. Two years clinical experience as a Registered Nurse, with a minimum of one year of experience in the clinical area assigned. Experiences must have been as a Registered Nurse within a United States Licensing Jurisdiction.
3. Must maintain a current Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation certification, in compliance with corporate CPR policy.
4. Must have or be eligible to receive a NP formulary number upon completion of appropriate training.
5. Proof of current minimum (15/30/5) automobile liability insurance, valid CA Driver¬'s License and dependable, available vehicle required.
6. Must demonstrate through written practice and/or oral testing, the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served and has knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span. He or she is able to identify and categorize each patient’s age specific grouping of needs, such as those for infant, adolescent, adult or geriatric patients.
7. Demonstrated ability to listen and communicate with others in a professional and caring manner including sensitivity with individuals from diverse cultures and lifestyles.
8. Fluency in English (speaks, read and write).
9. Fluency in Spanish (speak, translate, read and write) is desired.
