LOCATION: City of Saratoga Springs NY – City Hall
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The following qualification(s) MUST be met and clearly detailed on the application form on or before the last filing date: EITHER
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a closely related field AND five (5) years of full time paid progressively responsible experience in the field of Information Technology, TWO years of which must have been in a supervisory capacity OR
- Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a closely related field AND seven (7) years of full time paid progressively responsible experience in the field of Information Technology, TWO years of which must have been in a supervisory capacity OR
- Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma AND nine (9) years of full time paid progressively responsible experience in the field of Information Technology, TWO years of which must have been in a supervisory capacity.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
- Background Check: To be eligible for appointment, the candidate will be subject to a thorough background investigation performed by the City of Saratoga Springs Police Department.

DUTIES:
- Under the general direction of the Deputy Commissioner of Finance, the Director of Information Technology is a project management, policy influencing, managerial and confidential role that directs, guides, manages, supervises, and coordinates the activities and operations of the Information Technology Department including hardware, software, network and computer systems administration; identifies, recommends, develops, implements and supports cost-effective technology solutions for all aspects of the City government.
- The Director of Information Technology prepares bid specifications and analyzes bid proposals for hardware and software; coordinates activities with other departments and outside agencies.
- Administrative and technical supervision is exercised over all other information technology staff.
- The Director of Information Technology must have the ability to work effectively with elected officials, executive management, and administrative and technical staff, as well have the ability to present ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- The incumbent does related work as required.
VACANCY The eligible list established as a result of this examination will be used to fill any Director of Information Technology vacancies as they occur in the City of Saratoga Springs for the duration of this established eligible list.
