Purpose
The Savannah Police Department is looking for a motivated, detailed oriented, critical thinker with the ability to multi-task, collect, process, analyze, and disseminate actionable intelligence to join the Savannah Area Regional Intelligence Center as a Crime Analyst. The new Crime Analyst will be responsible for performing a variety of statistical and analytical research, data collection, and report preparation to support the department’s crime reduction and prevention strategies.

Essential Job Functions
- Provide accurate, timely, and relevant analysis of crime patterns, series, and trends that aid in the efficient deployment of departmental resources.
- Utilize data to assist in proactive and targeted investigations, the identification of violent patterns, trends, and the identification of known and repeat offenders.
- Access data from a variety of sources and law enforcement databases to prepare reports to assist in investigations and/or prepare intelligence assessments.
- Assess crime patterns to predict when a crime might occur; review offender and victim characteristics, modus operandi, location, and time to determine the next crime in a series.
- Performs hotspot geographical profiling, link analysis and other specific analysis related to crime and investigations.
- Provides critical support to specialized police units with database queries, statistics, crime mapping, social media searches, and in-depth data analysis on demand.
- Maintain relationships with other law enforcement agencies to support investigations and ensure information sharing.
- Reviews information on arrests as it relates to specific modus operandi or crime pattern and investigates background of potential suspects.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and bulletins to allow for the development of strategies and the deployment of officers to effectively prevent and reduce crime.
- Provide real time analysis for active investigations.
- Use complex databases and software applications such as ArcGIS and i2 Analyst Notebook
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in police science, criminology, mathematics, statistics, criminal justice, psychology, sociology or a related field supplemented by one (1) year of experience in the collection, analysis and interpretation of police data and writing reports that indicate relationships between various parties; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Work Location: 6600 Abercorn St Work Hours: 8 am - 5 pm, Monday - Friday
Additional Requirements
Background investigation, including supervised drug screen, post offer/pre-employment medical screen; and verification of education, certifications, and licenses required prior to employment.
