JOB SUMMARY
Are you an experienced planner with a passion for leading teams and creating livable communities? Do you have strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and problem-solving skills? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you! We are looking for a senior planner to join our team to lead and manage complex planning projects, provide strategic direction and leadership to our teams, and guide the City’s land use and transportation planning processes.
You will be responsible for:
- Leading the City’s Long Range Planning Team, including the development and administration of the City’s Comprehensive Plan, transportation/transit planning program, and related special projects.
- Coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to review development proposals to ensure alignment with the City’s growth management policies.
- Serve as the departmental representative on local planning teams, including the Sioux Falls Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A bachelor’s degree in planning, geography, public administration, or related field with a minimum of four (4) years’ experience in planning, zoning, or public administration or any such combination of education, experience, and training as may be acceptable to the hiring authority.
Possession of a valid driver’s license is desirable.
