  • Reads water meters on an assigned route and records findings; makes special readings as directed.
  • Performs minor field inspections and reports findings.
  • Reports unusual cases to the supervisor.
  • May be required to participate in the snow removal program or assist in the repair and servicing of meters.
  • Operates an automobile or pickup truck.
  • Operates a hand-held computer.
  • Performs related work as required.

  • Experience: No previous experience is necessary. Must be able to write legibly, and accurately make simple mathematical computations.
  • License: Possession of a valid driver's license.
Note: Work requires the ability to walk for long periods of time and perform duties outdoors under varying weather conditions.Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications and pass the examination for this position to be eligible for hiring. Qualified applicants are encouraged to apply immediately. All applicants must complete and submit a City of Spokane employment application online by 4:00 p.m. on the filing cut-off date.

Upon request, at time of application, the City will provide alternative accessible tests to individuals with disabilities that impair manual, sensory or speaking skills needed to take the test, unless the test is intended to measure those skills.

Please note in accordance with state mandate, all qualified candidates will be required to wear a mask before being admitted to take the scheduled exam.

The exam will consist of a multiple choice examination, with scoring weights assigned as follows:
Multiple Choice Examination: 100%

MULITPLE CHOICE EXAMINATION DETAILS:
  • Test Date/Time: July 19 - July 24, 2021
  • Test Location: North Central High School - Commons Area
  • Approximate Duration of Each Exam: 1 hour and 30 minutes
  • Subject Areas: Attention to Detail, Basic Math, Driving and Safety, Working with People
COVID 19 Safety in the Workplace:
The safety of our employees and community are our highest priority. All employees are educated and trained on how to use proper social distancing, enhanced hygiene techniques, and personal protective equipment (PPE). As a public agency we are following all state required procedures in regards to PPE and COVID 19.

Precautions include:
1.  Remote work when available for certain positions
2. Daily cleaning and disinfecting of surfaces
3. Temperature checks
4. In office social distancing
5. Use of video conferencing
6. Personal protective equipment
